Conquer The World Europe

Profile

Conquer the World Europe was the European division of [l=Conquer The World Records]. The European division was founded when [a=Mike Warden (2)] traveled to Europe in the summer of 1995 as a tour roadie for Belgian hardcore band [a=Blindfold]. Mike had previously released the Blindfold LP "Restrain the Thought", and a [a=Shortsight] (another Belgian hardcore band) 7" "Why Spend Time Learning", in 1993. In 1995 he also released Belgian hardcore band [a=Nations On Fire]'s CD "Death of the Pro-Lifer". While traveling around Europe and distributing Conquer the World Records releases himself at merch tables, Mike realized that there was a need for a local distributor of his record label's released in Europe in order to save on postage and currency conversion losses for European fans. He struck up a deal with [l=Green Hell Records] out of Münster, Germany and the two of them co-released Conquer the World Europe's first output in 1995, the [a=Upright] 7" "Silent Oppression". Over the next few years, Green Hell Records/Conquer the World Europe solely distributed Conquer the World Records releases in Europe, until 1998 when another co-release was planned for a re-issue of [a=Spit Acid]'s 1994 self-titled LP. Another co-release followed with [a=Vanilla (3)]'s album "Social Evening & French Divorce". According to Mike Warden, Green Hell Records' owner/Conquer the World Europe's manager withheld payments from European sales which nearly bankrupted Conquer the World Records and forced Warden to put his record label on hiatus for a year to recover financially. Because of the financial dispute, Conquer the World Europe closed down in 1998/1999.
