Resona

Profile

U.S. record label produced for [l1040445] of New York by at least three manufacturers between ca. 1920-1925. Earliest records bear simple black labels and were manufactured by the [l649082]. Couplings and catalog numbers were identical to those of corresponding [l495426] issues, plus 70000 (e.g. [l495426] 5114 = [l805578] 75114). Production of the label shifted to the [l906414] after [l649082] failed and sold its assets to the [l567964] in 1924. These releases bear fairly ornate red, black and gold labels that incorporate a lyre trademark. Early [l906414] pressings drew from [l464821] masters. Later releases drew from [l583831] masters. Couplings and catalog numbers were usually identical to those of other [l906414]-produced labels (e.g. [l160872] and [l861533]). When [l906414] declared bankruptcy in mid-1925, production of the Resona label shifted once again, this time to the [l567964] and drew from [l577104] masters.
