The 9th World Festival of Youth and Students was one of the festivals organised by the World Federation of the Democratic Youth (WFDY), which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria between 28 July and 6 August 1968 in the atmosphere of the great political tension - the Vietnam war, the Prague spring, the youth protest movements in the world. It was used as a great propaganda event from Bulgarian communist state, a representation of the cultural, sport and social achievements of the regime. Bulgarian record company Balkanton issued a lot of new and reissued old releases of all genres on the occasion of the festival, adding its official logo on the covers.
