Museu Serralves

Profile

Portuguese museum for contemporary art, located in Porto. Its architectural plans were first drawn up in 1991 by the architect Álvaro Siza and the new building was inaugurated in 1999. The museum is part of the Fundação de Serralves (Serralves Foundation), an institution serving the national community, whose mission is to raise the general public's awareness concerning contemporary art and the environment. Its activities also include the release of books and recordings.
