Ameise

Profile

Independent lacquer cutting and vinyl pressing plant located in Hamburg, founded in 2000 by [a=Martin Sukale]. In 2007 the plant moved to a new location and downscaled, only pressing 7"s anymore. At some point the name changed to [l=Ramona Records (7)]. The plant was considered one of the smallest in the world and specializes in very small runs, wholly within the DIY ethos. Sukale started cutting dubplates on a Neumann lathe in a Wohngemeinschaft in the Schanzenviertel in Hamburg. In 2000 he started pressing using a Toolex Alpha machine formerly used by [l=Interpress]. Over the time the plant was equipped with various presses, bought at actions or salvaged from scrap and customized by Sukale. The plant also cut masters for other clients. When "ameise" appears in the runouts, please only credit with Lacquer Cut At. Also appears on releases as "Ameise Vinyl".
