Stardust Records

Profile

Canadian reissue label known for quasi-legitimate reissue 45s (mastered from existing vinyl records; it occasionally issued singles with odd artist and/or song pairings) and compilation CDs of questionable mastering quality. Issued numerous singles under the [l34302], Classic* and The Beat Goes On* labels from the mid-Seventies to at least 1995. *Do not confuse these other Stardust/Underground imprints with the reissue labels [l22206] and [l34599] respectively. Despite the various names used by this company, the catalog numbers usually had the URC-xxxx catalog number on the label. Distributed [a=Elvis Presley] reissue 45s under the Underground brand under license from RCA Records in the early 1980s when that label deleted those singles from its catalog; these reissues were pressed by [l33414]' Canadian branch.
