Knäppupp

Profile

Knäppupp (Swedish: "unbutton") was the collective name of a popular revue series produced by Swedish musician and entertainer Povel Ramel. The name Knäppupp was also a label under which name these series of revues were released on vinyl between 1952 and up to around 1968. In 1952, Povel Ramel and Felix Alvo founded a production company: Aktiebolaget Knäppupp, Ramel-Alvoproduktion, which main purpose from the start was to finance the revue series to come. Aktiebolaget Knäppupp, Ramel-Alvoproduktion, or shortened to [l=AB Knäppupp] or just Knäppupp, was also a record company and a motion picture company. This company's releases under the label Knäppupp stopped around 1968. But then, from 1970, Sonet Grammofon AB acquired the rights to the Aktiebolaget Knäppupp, Ramel-Alvoproduktion catalogue. Therefore, you will find ℗ Knäppupp/Sonet Grammofon AB on releases with the Knäppupp label logo on after 1970.
