Independent German rock label from Bottrop, established in 1979. The simple yellow/orange Cain label was only used on original pressings of the initial three LP releases. After that a fantasy art label was used. First pressings through to CL 5803 were distributed by Deutsche Austrophon. Later ones were distributed by Bellaphon. Most of the releases on Cain were prog rock or fusion. In catalogue numbers like CL 4791, CL = Cain LP, 4 = series, 79 = 1979, 1 = release number. Of course, determining the year this way only applies to originals, not reissues.
