Beka

Profile

German Shellac budget label established in 1910. Orginally known as [l=Beka-Grand-Record], a label created by Bumb & Koenig GmbH (later [l=Beka-Record A.-G.] in 1904), it was shortened to BeKa following the adquisition of Beka-Record by [l=Carl Lindström A.-G.] in 1910. The label was retained as a local label, occasionally appearing for exports in England, Sweden, Russia and other countries. Following Lindström's adquisition by [l=Columbia Graphophone Company Ltd.] and subsequent merger into [l=Electric & Musical Industries Ltd.], Beka came to be administered by the German EMI branch [l=EMI Electrola GmbH]
