Checkpoint Charlie Audio Productions

Profile

Checkpoint Charlie Audio Productions (CCAP) was founded in January, 2000 in Stavanger, Norway by Tom Brekke, the owner of Checkpoint Charlie Hard Rock Café. The café has, since its opening in 1987, been a scene for both local, national and international bands and is an important hang out place for local musicians and music fans. Tom Brekke was frustrated by the major labels' lack of interest for bands outside of Oslo. Inspired by the success of other Norwegian indie labels, like Tellé Records and Racing Junior, he decided to start his own label. The first album to be released was Skanksters' debut album, "Shaven Not Stirred". Artists and bands like Thomas Dybdahl, The Low Frequency In Stereo, Popface, The Substitutes, The Mile Markers and Lano Places have later been released on the label.
