Columbia-Rena Record

Profile

The Rena Manufacturing Co. Ltd. was founded by Louis Sterling as a manufacturer of gramophones & records in December 1908. The records were actually manufactured by the Columbia Phonograph Co. Genl. In December 1910 Columbia acquired the Rena Manufacturing Co. but continued to use the Rena series of numbers. Later the label name was changed to Columbia-Rena Record. In October 1915 all reference to Rena was dropped and the label became just Columbia Record. These first British Columbia Records show the company credit shown as Columbia Graphophone Company, London-New York as the British Columbia Graphophone Co. Ltd. was not formed until Febuary, 1917.
