Dragon (2)

Profile

Named after founder Byron Lee in Jamaica, the Dragon label was a subsidiary of Dynamic Sounds. For the company use [l=Dragon Records (15)], and [l= Dragon Music (2)] for publishing credits. The imprint wasn't utilized as much in Jamaica as it was in the UK where Island Records established an exclusive distribution subsidiary for Lee in 1973, after the UK branch of Dynamic was dissolved under Trojan Records. Approximately half-way through the duration of the UK Dragon label's existence, distribution control was shifted from Island to its own former sub-label, Trojan Records until 1975, when the Dragon imprint was retired in the UK for good. -NOTE: This label is not to be mistaken for the UK-based dancehall label founded by Dancehall artist Red Dragon [see [l=Dragon Records (3)]].-
