Dutch retail chain selling music, films, and games. Founded in the 1930s as one shop in Eindhoven by conductor and composer [a8300254]. In 1957 his sons, Chris and Jan took over the store. From the 1970s up to the 1990s several branches were opened and eventually consisted of about sixty branches. In 1993 the chain was taken over by the [l200585] Holding. In 2009 the head office in Eindhoven closed and in 2011 the web store closed. In May 2013, the Free Record Shop Holding, including Van Leest, went bankrupt.
