RiTonis

Latvian label from Riga. In the turmoil of the dissolution of the USSR and regional independence movements, the Baltic branch of [l15486], specifically [l265302] based in Riga, Latvian SSR, began to work under the name RiTonis, showing up the first time in 1989. Their releases were sold to local and Russian markets. The pressing plant was officially registered by [l60799] in February 1991. Both names (Рижский Завод Грампластинок and RiTonis) were used depending for whom the records were pressed, either Мелодия or for other labels like [l50435] or [l57735]. After the dissolution of the USSR, the pressing plant was privatised in 1992 and only working under its new name RiTonis. RiTonis was officially liquidated in April 2006, even though not active long before.
