Sony Music Entertainment (Taiwan) Ltd.

Profile

Taiwanese record company, started its operation in March 1993. Later merged with [l=BMG Music Taiwan Inc.] to form [l=Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Taiwan) Ltd.] in early 2005. Do not confuse with [l=Sony Music Entertainment Taiwan Ltd.] which began its operation in 2008-2009 after Sony acquires BMG's stake in Sony BMG. Although some releases carries the copyright with the country name in brackets during 2008-2009. Please use [l=Sony Music Entertainment (Taiwan) Ltd. (2)] if it is credited in unofficial releases. Important note: The code for albums released domestically during its existence, was almost always SDD yyxx (SDC for cassettes), and after the Sony BMG merger, these codes continued to be used as late as mid-2005. For promotional single of a song taken from the album with the same album code, the dash and the number was added, example: SDD 9707-1. The code SMD xxxx (SMC for cassettes) and SMS xxxx are also used but unlike a domestic album which was indicated by the year of the release and the release number of a given year, these codes were used continuously. Albums by domestic singers with the album code are identified by the barcode that begins with 4 716331 yyxxxx, the last two digits are the format code and check digit, respecitvely. For the same album that released internationally, it may be replaced with 5 0997xx xxxxxx. Earlier albums of domestic repertoire (released 1995-1996) does not have the international album code, and uses only SDD yyxx (SDC for cassettes). Another album code is used for some releases, 4 893391 xxxxxx. Please note that the same album may use different codes. For example: [m1257314] SDD 9801 - Full album ([r=11036163], 489609.2) SDD 9808 - Double CD edition ([r=11051546] and 489609.9, the second CD is an EP with two codes, SDD 9807 and 665870.2) In Indonesian editions of their albums, since the country mainly uses Latin script, the romanized title for Chinese songs are used, otherwise it may use the English title of the song. The code given by Sony Music Taiwan may be omitted.
