Imperial Recordings was founded in April of 2001 by John Dadzie (Infiltrata), and Steve Hughes (LiTh) in Los Angeles. Imperial Recordings came out with its 1st release days after the tragic terrorist’s attacks on 9/11/2001. Originally the side 'A' release was titled 'Combustion' but was changed to 'American Retaliation' in memory of the fallen. This signaled a change of American Drum & Bass to the rest of the world, that no longer would the United Kingdom and select other countries be solely responsible for pushing Drum & Bass forward with ground breaking tracks. Since then Imperial has went on to sponsor major drum & bass parties, as well as playing night after night in the dark basements of the Los Angeles underground.
