Founded by Billboard reporter [a415477] in 1954 as mainly a rhythm & blues label, later adding Soulsides as well. In 1957 it was discontinued and merged with [l=Vik]. It was later reactivated for a short time from 1961 to 1965. The brand was later reactivated by [l=RCA] in Argentina. For unofficial releases, see [l426926]. Some titles may have been released in both formats: shellac and vinyl, with respectively prefix cat# 'G-xxxx' for shellac and '4G-xxxx' for 7" vinyls.
