Qualiton (3)

Profile

The mainly Welsh-language Qualiton label was owned by [l890266], from Pontardawe, near Neath. Label Code: LC 0968 / LC 00968 Records on the Qualiton label appeared from 1958 into at least the mid '70s, latterly (from c.1969) as part of the Decca family. Most of its products were LPs, but it also put out 7" records. The majority of its 7" products date from the '50s and '60s, but at least one EP, the Llandaff Cathedral Choir's 'O Lovely Peace', was released in the '70s - in March 1970, despite the '1969' on the label. Singles were numbered in the WSP-5000s, while EPs came in a variety of series: BEP-8000, QEP-4000, and (S)QEPD-100. The company seems to have dedicated two labels to material licensed from Europe: Qualiton International looks to have shared the main BEP-8000 catalogue series, while Qualiton Off Beat singles had their own PSP-7100 numbers. Part of [l=The Decca Record Company Limited].
