The BMG name in Colombia returned with Sony BMG merger, after having withdrew from the country due to financial problems in 2000. Its predecessor, [l=Sony Music Entertainment (Colombia) S.A.] distributed releases of BMG in Colombia for years before the merger. The company was active from 2005 to 2008, and due to Sony acquiring BMG's stake, Sony Music returns to an old name, but this time omitting the brackets for the word "Colombia" ([l=Sony Music Entertainment Colombia S.A.]). [b]Note: The company is not used as a "label", but may be used as a "phonographic copyright", "distributed by", etc.[/b]
