The [b]MINC[/b] label (an acronym for the company's name, "Music Incorporated") was launched in January 1980 by [a=Hilton Rosenthal] and became one of the largest independent record companies in South Africa. Based in Johannesburg, their most successful act by far was [a=Juluka], while other domestic artists in their repertoire included [a2525073], Dave Hewitt, Andy Martin, and [a2533517]. The label also had a large catalogue of ethnic local acts including Jerusalema E Ncha and [a578333], and it licensed several international acts like [a541643] and [a=David Christie]. Distribution was handled by [l=EMI] S.A. to whom the label was sold in late 1985 before Mr. Rosenthal moved to Los Angeles.
