Mahorka

Profile

Mahorka is a Bulgarian record label that focuses on eclectic, experimental and genre-bending ambient, electronic and electroacoustic music. The company was originally founded by Svetlozar Anev ([a=Aneff]) and launched on 16 August 2002. Under Anev's direction, Mahorka put out twelve digital releases and one CD-R release during the span of about eight months. The label was put on an indefinite hiatus in the spring of 2003. A year later, in the spring of 2004, [a=Ivo Petrov] reactivated Mahorka and a few months later, in July 2004, resumed the release of digital music. The label put out an additional fifty-two releases over the next four years, between the summer of 2004 and the summer of 2008, when it underwent a second indefinite hiatus. Mahorka was revived again two years later, in the spring of 2010, with the help of graphic designer [a=Angel Draganov]. The label was properly relaunched in July 2010 with the release of new digital content. In 2014, Mahorka started releasing music on cassette tape format, and in 2016 on compact disc format.
