'Mediatrix Publishing Ltd.' was formerly the label and distribution company established in 1999 by company directors [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/691286-Michel-12]Michael Rowland[/url] and [a=Jason Just] to serve as the commercial arm of the Mediatrix Collective, founded the previous year. The Mediatrix Collective is a New Zealand 'dark alternative' cooperative network whose core members include the recording artists [a=Disjecta Membra], Jason Just ([a=Shemsu Hor], [a=Lightslastfading], Distorture), [a=The Mercy Cage], Hog Haul Valentine, Pulchritude and related projects. During the label's history Mediatrix Publishing released albums, EPs, miniCDs and other merchandise from a range of New Zealand goth, industrial, ebm, and experimental artists. Once successful in bringing these underground New Zealand bands to wider international exposure and larger label deals, the company was then formally dissolved in 2004, so that all involved could focus on their own creative output. Core members continue to collaborate as 'Mediatrix', and now release either independently or on larger international labels, with the assistance of Mediatrix's established trade partners.
