Cow Pie
Profile
An independent British Country label, set up by B. J. Cole and based in Palmers Green, London N13. In association with United Artists, [l=Cow Pie Productions] issued three singles, by Cole himself, Nancy Pepper and Thom Fricker, in 1978-79, and there was also a Nancy Pepper album. The singles were marketed by United Artists, with EMI being responsible for manufacture and distribution, and they shared a numerical series with UA's own singles. Cow Pie appears to have struck out on its own in 1980, severing the connection with UA and introducing a new label design and PIE-000 catalogue numbers. At least five singles and two albums were issued from 1980-82; the artists involved were the Hank Wangford Band and Ricky Cool. The label reformed in 2019 with releases from Hank Wangford, Ags Connolly and BJ Cole.
