Canadian label founded in Edmonton, Alberta by [a=R. Harlan Smith] in 1974. Originally focused on Country & Western music then later expanded to Canadiana, Roots and Alt Rock. In 1978 the Irish label [l=Emerald] became the distributor for the UK. Initially formed under [l=Royalty Records Of Canada Ltd.], the parent company changed names to [l=Royalty Records Inc. (2)] on November 28, 1988. Currently run by Harlan's son Rob Smith.
