Trauma Records (2)

Profile

Los Angeles-based Trauma Records was an independent label that in 1993 signed a Joint Venture Agreement with [l=Interscope Records]—through 1999, Trauma was to sign and develop bands (such as [a=No Doubt] and [a=Bush]), with Interscope providing financing and distribution. In 1997, Trauma sued Interscope for $100 million when Interscope laid claim to No Doubt's contract, which Trauma asserted had been transferred to Trauma in 1995. The suit was settled out of court, allowing Trauma to retain the group's recording rights and obtain $3 to $5 million in cash. Interscope acquired Trauma in 2004, and subsequently all but deactivated the label.
