Iversen & Frogh A/s

Profile

Norwegian company, founded November 25, 1929 (registered in January 1930), by Carl Martinius Iversen and Oscar Frogh. Although started in 1929, it can trace its roots back to 1913 and the company "Carl M. Iversen". This company dealt with the sale and repair of musical instruments, gramophones, and records, as well as operating as a music publisher. When Iversen & Frogh A/S was started, the company "Carl M. Iversen" continued to run as a musical instrument shop and publisher, while the new company took over the record business and the Norwegian representation of the [l1866] imprint. Both companies operated out of the same building, at Youngsgt. 1 in Oslo. Carl M. Iversen and Oscar Frogh were the owners and sole board members until Iversen passed away in 1938, at which point his widow, Anna Frogh Iversen, took over his role and ownership in the company. In 1953 Arild Iversen also became involved. In December 1965 the company was combined with the "Carl M. Iversen" company into "Carl M. Iversen A/S". In practice this was done by dissolving the old "Carl M. Iversen" company and renaming "Iversen & Frogh A/S" to "Carl M. Iversen A/S". From the start they represented [l1866] in Norway, and they eventually took on the representation of more and more labels, such as: From 1948: [l33930] (previously represented by A/S Nerlien) From 1955: [l33261] From 1957: [l51529] From 1961: [l34094] and [l33967], as well as [l13531] (the music from the latter had been released in Norway on [l7704] up to that point) But most importantly and noteably, from 1957 onwards they were given the representation for all of [l26126]'s labels and imprints, which in addition to the ones they already had, included [l37150], [l2294], [l654], [l70230], Imperial, etc. As such they (and the successor Carl M. Iversen A/S) were the biggest record company in Norway until April 1969 when [l26126] started its own Norwegian branch, [l111103].
