Important Italian jazz label ran by [a=Aldo Sinesio]. Activity: 1972-1979. HORO Records is one of the most prestigious Italian jazz labels, founded in 1972 by Aldo Sinesio. First a filmmaker and later a record producer, Sinesio has recorded artists as Sun Ra, Lester Bowie, Gil Evans, Max Roach, Archie Shepp and other musicians who came to play in Italy during a ten-year spread from ’68 to ’78. The core of the HORO production was issued on three series: HLL 101 "Jazz A Confonto", HZ and HDP. In the HLL 101 “Jazz A Confronto” series, Sinesio recorded Italian jazz masters like Gianni Basso, Giorgio Gaslini, Renato Sellani, Giorgio Barigozzi, Oscar Valdambrini with young lions like Mario Schiano, Enrico Rava, Massimo Urbani, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Enrico Pieranunzi. Sinesio also organized encounters between Italian jazz musicians and the best American jazzmen.
