American record label based in Detroit, Michigan, and founded by [a909614] and [a899381]. Active in the 1960s. The label imprint appears as "Ric-Tic Records" and also "Ric-Tic" For all Unofficial / Bootleg Release of this label please use [l778553]. The label was named for the deceased son of Bratton and her then husband (and boxer) Johnny Bratton. Their son Derek was known to the family as Ricky, Ric, or Ric-Tic, and had died in 1962 at the age of 11. Ric-Tic and partner label [l108180] featured many soul music artists and was a competitor for fellow Detroit label Motown. In 1968 [l1723]'s owner, [a229467] paid $1 million for the label, in a deal that included many of the label's artists.
