WEA is an acronym for Warner Elektra Atlantic. The acronym was introduced in early 1972 when [l=Warner Communications]' international music division [l640338] was renamed [l1255]. All subsidiary companies outside the US eventually changed their names from Kinney to WEA, too. WEA as a label was introduced in some markets in the late 1970s.
