American record label fro New York, also appears as "[i][b]Laurie[/i][/b]" only. Founded in 1958 by brothers [a842401] and [a628977], and Allan I. Sussel, the founder of Philadelphia's [l87066] Records. In the early '60s, arranger [a741115] became a minority partner. For Bootlegs and unofficial releases see [l133051]. The most successful artists on Laurie were [a711723], [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/280866-Chiffons-The]The Chiffons[/url], and [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/290319-Royal-Guardsmen-The]The Royal Guardsmen[/url]. Laurie was also the US label for British pop stars [a277348]. The label also distributed records under several subsidiary labels, including [l129706], [l113999] and others. They are [b]not[/b] affiliated with mail-order firm Laurie House, which was owned by [l295695]. Laurie's name was changed in the early '80s to [l74419]; its masters are now owned by the Capitol Records unit of Universal Music Group.
