Label established by [l293204] (EMI) subsidiary [l274008], launched in the UK on June 15th 1962. Intended as a rival to [l=London American Recordings] and [l=Pye International], it specialized in releases licensed from smaller American labels. The rights to the label were directly owned by The Gramophone Co. Ltd., later being reassigned to renamed company [l63404]. As of 2017 the trademark is directly registered to successor Parlophone Records Ltd. which forms part of the Warner Music Group.
