Crown (5)

Profile

U.S. record label (1930-1933). For UK releases see [l142285]. Recorded by the Crown Record Company of New York, these discs were pressed by [l452643] [a901092] managed production of Crown and its subsidiary [l866212] and [l751077] labels. Crown had an informal relationship with [l464821], and although most Crown releases drew on their own masters, several were made from [l93131] masters. Likewise, some Crown masters were issued on [l464821]' [l464792] label. Crown introduced fine-groove, long-playing records shortly before going out of business in Fall, 1933. Much Crown material was retained by [a901092], who later dubbed it onto releases in his [l100103], [l142508] and other labels in the late 1930s-early 1940s.
