Quixotic

Profile

Quixotic was one of the few indie record labels operating in New York City’s “East Village” during the early 1990s. The roster of artists included: Airlines, Lid, The Giant Mums, Swimmer, Bügsküll, 18th Dye, Halcion, and Kenny Young. Quixotic was formed in 1991 by the members of three East Village bands—Airlines, The Giant Mums, and Lid—after Mark Robinson (of Teen Beat Records) had sent them Fugazi’s booklet on starting up your own record label. This was the final golden period of the original “indie” rock movement, based upon the concept of being completely independent of the corporate music world.
