Le Kiosque d'Orphée

Profile

French record manufacturer based in Paris, defunct since 1991. Founded sometime in the late 1950s as a French penchant of Derby Service in England, Kiosque D'Oprhée did not operate as a label but made artists pay to get a number of pressings, making it an alternative for a private press autoproduction. In 1967 it was taken over by [a10902793] (father of bassist [a516854]), who moved the company from the VIe to the IVe arrondissement. By the 1970s they were also releasing traditional, folk and pop music. It also released electronic, avantgarde and experimental music in very small editions. The logo was designed by René Dessirier. See also the [r29654407] compilation (2024). Also appears as "Disques K.O." or "Transcription Le Kiosque d'Orphée" or "Réalisation Le Kiosque d'Orphée". Only the logo appears on some releases. Catalog numbers may appear as 'LKO XXXX' or 'KO/XXXX'.
