Silence (Silence Records AB) is a Swedish record company located in Näved just outside Koppom in Värmland. Silence was one of the most important record companies in the Swedish Prog rock movement, but has now ceased all new releases. The record label was founded in Stockholm in 1970 by [a=Anders Lind] and [a=Joseph Hochhauser], who were DJ's at the psychedelic rock club Klubb Filips. Anders bought a ReVox tape recorder and started to go around recording the legendary drum/organ duo [a=Hansson & Karlsson] at their concerts. Also from the start were [a=Håkan Lind] and Anders Lind's girlfriend at the time [a=Eva Wilke]. During this time, the company released records including [a=Bo Hansson], [a=Träd, Gräs Och Stenar], [a=Kebnekajse], [a=Fläsket brinner], [a=Philemon Arthur & The Dung], [a=Gudibrallan], [a296219], [a=Turid] and [a=Jan Hammarlund]. In 1972 [l307446] was formed together with the record company [l8302]. In 1977, Silence moved to the village of Näved outside Koppom in western Värmland and rebuilt an old school to a music studio.
