For unofficial releases, see [l=Josie (2)] Josie was a subsidiary of [l=Jubilee] Records in New York and was active from 1954 through to 1971. Single records were numbered from 760 through to 1031. Josie began as a doo-wop label in the mid 1950s, morphed into a soul label in the early 1960s, and was releasing hard funk by the end of the 1960s. 45 RPM Catalog Number, Date and Label Identification: 760 through 829 (1954–1957): Light brown label with "JOZ" logo and brown print. 830 through 845 (1957–1958): Light brown label with "JOZ" logo and red print. 846 and higher (1958 forward): Light brown label with "JOSIE" logo.
