Record label founded 1961 by [a=Charlie Parker]'s widow [a=Doris Parker] and [a=Aubrey Mayhew] to control the release of many of the illegal live bootlegs that had found their way to collectors in the years after Parker's death. Some 50 albums and at least five singles were released on "Charlie Parker Records." Active between 1961-1965. Initially distributed by [l=Carlton Record Corporation] (until late 1961) and manufactured by [l=Charlie Parker Record Corporation]; then distributed by [l=MGM Records] beginning 1962, and manufactured by [l=Apex Record Corporation]. Subsequently became a division of [l=Audiofidelity Enterprises, Inc.], which continued to use the brand. Also appears as "CP Records".
