[b]Condé Nast[/b] was established by NYC-born publisher Condé Montrose Nast (1873—1942), initially as [i]Vogue Company[/i], after he purchased an iconic [i][b]Vogue[/i][/b] fashion magazine in 1909. He incorporated [b]Condé Nast Publications[/b] holding in 1922. In 1959, renowned publisher and broadcasting entrepreneur Samuel Irving Newhouse Sr (1895—1979) purchased Condé Nast for $5,000,000 as an anniversary gift for his wife, Mitzi, who loved [i]Vogue[/i], merging it with his private company, [b]Advance Publications[/b].
