London based manufacturing company. Principal activities - plating, pressing, manufacturing of gramophone records and cassettes. Established in August 1955 by [a1986774], originally to press and distribute a catalogue of nursery rhymes and bedtime stories. Later the company acquired the catalogue of the [l435256], the leading American manufacturer of budget line classical music. To distribute the records, Rodd established a mail order business with huge success and by the late 1950s Allied had grown into a successful manufacturer and direct-to-consumer distributor. In 1960 Allied bought the bankrupt [l216861], including its large catalogue, followed by the acquisition of [l284689] in 1975, along with it the catalog of [l2068]. After 1982 Allied Records Ltd. only continued to press LPs, until 1985. In 1986 Allied Records Ltd. was dissolved by parent [l281165] and the plant was closed.
