EMI 百代

Profile

EMI label used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and other Chinese-speaking markets in Southeast Asia from the early 1980s, with 百代 being a translation of EMI. When EMI re-opened an office in mainland China in 2001, after leaving in 1948, it was also used on Chinese-originated releases issued by EMI Asia Pacific in Hong Kong. In 2007, EMI sold all its mainland Chinese assets and rights to [l=Push Typhoon]. For the pre-1948 Chinese company please see [l=百代唱片], a Chinese translation of "Pathé Records" (also used in Hong Kong until the late 1950s). [b]EMI or EMI 百代 should not be added as a label on any release with a primary branded label such as [l=His Master's Voice], [l=Columbia], [l=Pathé], [l=Parlophone], [l=Capitol Records], etc., as the boxed EMI logo that appears with the primary label simply implies that the label formed part of the EMI Group (please do not confuse with [l1032063]), not that EMI was a label. In these cases, it is permitted to add EMI as a Record Company as it was the corporate logo of the parent companies [l293204] / [l359207] (EMI) and was not intended as a label.[/b] For unofficial releases, use: [l1122984]
