Union Record

Profile

German record label between 1947 and 1948. Established early 1947 by Otto Stahmann (former label owner of [l=Brillant (2)], [l=Brillant-Special], [l=Grohag], and [l=Tempo (2)]). Soon a cooperation with Karl Neumann started, owner of [l=Schallplattenfabrik Pallas GmbH]. Records were then pressed by Pallas in Diepholz, often using pre-war Brillant and Tempo matrices. Records from 1947 (and potentially early 1948, until cat# 2540) carry the statement "Gen. 14.3.47. 30 Inf. Contr. Unit" (meaning: Genehmigt (approved) on 14 March 1947 by the (Corps District) 30 Information Control Unit). In 1948 Stahmann moved to Munich, Bavaria and started to operate his own pressing plant in Neuriederstr. 118, München 49. Records from 1948 (since cat# 2541) carry the statement "Permit 91 APO 407 -- A Cultural Affairs Branch München" or "Permit 91 APO 407 -- A C. A. B. München", from the US Military Government for Bavaria. Soon after, Stahmann reformed the Tempo label and Union Record ceased to exist.
