US record label co-founded by [a65712] and [a304769] in 1959; originally owned by [l571550]. Label Code: LC 30452 The Takoma story began in 1959 in the Washington, DC suburb of Takoma Park, Maryland when Fahey borrowed $300 and pressed 100 copies of his now-legendary [m=186587]. By 1963 Fahey and Denson had moved to California. The label's diverse roster included blues guitarist [a150530] (who the partners had rediscovered in Mississsippi), electronics pioneer [a413568], beat poet [a517528], bluegrass musician [a430083], guitarist [a191662], and '[m=1043971]' by [a489657] and [a1273935] (which was known as [a119009]'s favorite record). Denson, who went on to become the manager of [a293477], sold his stake in the label to Fahey and later founded another label [l112778] with [a542666] In 1979 [l3198] purchased the label, selling it in 1983. In 1995 [l1329] purchased the Takoma catalog from [l54749] Became part of [l=Concord Music Group] in the mid-2000s after Fantasy merged with [l=Concord Records, Inc.]
