MTV is an American TV cable channel based in New York, NY. Launched on August 1, 1981, the channel originally aired music videos and related programming as guided by television personalities known as VJs (video jockeys). Available in other countries, it became a cult hit across the world under the famous motto "I Want My MTV". The well-known logo was designed by New York design collective [l=Manhattan Design].
