G.E.M.

Profile

French label; also appears as "GEM" and stands for [l=Guilde Européenne du Microsillon]. During the fifties, this French label proposed budget record collections that were sold in France in household electrical appliance shops which were in competition with the record shops. The speciality of this company was the use of debuting artists to sing well known French songs. When the other record companies began to sell budget collections, G.E.M. stopped its activities. During the sixties, the catalog was acquired by [l249311] which reissues it from 1965 under its [l10584] label.
