EMI Belgium SA/NV

Profile

Belgian EMI branch, preceded by [l=S.A. Gramophone N.V.] and succeeded by [l=EMI Music Belgium NV/SA]. Apart from the EMI labels, from 1973 on the company also distributed [l=WEA] and [l=MCA Records] in Belgium and Luxemburg. In 1983 it acquired [l=International Bestseller Company] and [l=MFP Belgium] (which had remained independent after the EMI take-over of [l=Music For Pleasure] in 1971). Though its predecessor is on record as operating a studio and pressing plant, EMI Belgium did not. For manufacturing it relied on foreign sister companies (mostly [l=Bovema-EMI] and [l=Pathé Marconi EMI], but also [l=EMI ITALIANA S.p.A.]) and on local pressing plants (such as [l=Fonopers], [l=N.T.T.] or [l=Harry's]). For domestic pressings master lacquers were cut by [l=Foon] from 1972 on. Managing director: Stanley J. Robins. General manager: Emile J. Garin. Marketing manager: D. Huber. Sales manager: Henri Hendricks. Advertising manager: R. Vandenbosch. Classical production manager: J. Langlois. Label Managers: B. Robert, L. Calabrese, J. Govaerts. Promo manager: G. Descheemaeker.
