Hamilton

Profile

US label, a division of [l305138] Hamilton started in 1958 as a subsidiary of Dot Records. For the first few years, it was a singles label, used for rockabilly and blues songs that didn't fit well into Dot's mold of mainstream. In 1964, it was taken out of dormancy and converted to a reissue album subsidiary. Many of their album releases were just budget reissues of their popular albums from the past. This lasted until 1966, when it was shut down. The Hamilton label has more recently been reactivated as a budget subsidiary of Ranwood, which is today part of the Welk Music Group. In the late 1980's, there were several CD's issued on the Hamilton label, using the same logo as the 1960's reissue album label.
