Label launched in the summer of 2009 as a follow-up to [l=Insatiable Records], a Trance & Progressive label run by UK DJ & producer [a=Rich Mowatt] aka [a=Solarstone]. solarSwarm Recordings is branded as "the world's first & only social network record label". It's operated by the solarSwarm, an online community for die-hard Solarstone fans called the "swarmers". Swarmers scout for new electronic music and members audition it via the interactive music player on the Swarm website page. All decisions are taken by voting in polls through the member-only forums. Remixes are commissioned and artwork imagery is decided on in the same way. Behind-the-scenes staff handle the back-end admin, like distribution, promo and licensing, which leaves the Swarm to enjoy "the fun stuff".
