Formerly named "Rumba-Kali Home of African Hip Hop", the independent Africanhiphop.com portal "was initiated in February 1997 as a platform for information and discussion on hip hop from the African continent" and the diaspora. The site considers itself a breeding ground for new and unsigned talent and has made a few releases and mixtapes available for free download -- the first one having been "Senerap" from 1999.
