Formed as a subsiduary of [l275192] in 1920-1921, initially to import and distribute foreign recordings, to release mostly classical and operatic material, but also started recording and releasing own material using the studios of [l62753] in March 1921. There was much duplication of material between American Odeon and [l62753], and The American Odeon Corporation ceased operations on December 31, 1921, shortly after a visit from a Lindström executive. [l415007] subsequently became the exclusive licensee for [l275192] in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
