DEA (2)

Profile

DEA Discs (properly known as; dea discs) was an independent label based in Osaka, Japan. Owned by Dogmatic Productions (Dogma), it was primarily a limited press release used to promote Dogma tours in Japan, Australian, New Zealand and Hawai. DEA is an Acronym for Dogma Entertainment Agency. A tongue and cheek take of the US federal agency DEA. Dogma (tour company), DEA (label), Damaged (freezine) and firefly (night club / bar) usually were all interconnected with the release. Note that usually lower case lettering was used for all names, hence, unfamiliar to the label, will mispronounce the DEA as dea. The DEA compilation albums were released in the due to the rarity and premium put on the original 7" releases. The owner of DEA saw it's releases being sold for over $200 in NYC and Nishi-Shinjuku, Tokyo. Many fans wrote to Dogma and asked for sold out copies and it was decided to release compilation albums, sometimes adding unreleased singles as a bonus. DEA Discs Dogma Productions owner, Dwight Douglass (Dog) Synan worked as the producer, engineer and photographer, type setter, graphic designer for all releases under many different monikers (dogmaster d, DVD, etc.). Releases were generally released in the following formats and quantities: Numbered 1-1000 Clear 1001-2000 Blue 2001-3000 Red (White) 3001-4000 Green (Various) DEA Discs used Corduroy Records (Melbourne, Australia) as it's vinyl pressings.
